Wedding marquee: dos and don’ts
Dos – remember this
Book a floor: It may be tempting to save here, but a solid floor is essential. It keeps heels from sinking into the grass and tables standing level.
Think about the temperature: Even the warmest summer day can turn cool at night. Hire a few heaters with your wedding marquee, so the party keeps going when the dew falls.
Visit the location first: Before you order, make sure there is access to enough power for music, catering and lighting.
Make a rain plan: Make sure the ceremony can move into the tent if the weather lets you down at the last minute.
Choose a supplier who offers the right product and gives you a good gut feeling. If the supplier already seems stressed or does not deliver what was promised early on, they are not the right partner for your big day.
Don’ts – avoid these traps
Do not forget the lighting: A tent gets very dark after sunset. Use fairy lights, lanterns or dimmers to create the right mood.
Do not underestimate the space: Remember room for the gift table, buffet, bar and – most importantly – a dance floor. A full tent is cosy; a packed tent is claustrophobic.
Do not leave it to the last minute: The most popular dates are booked more than a year ahead.
Do not choose a supplier who is too busy or does not call you back. A good supplier should make you feel calm.
